Student Employment
The Archaeological Museum offers employment opportunities for Johns Hopkins students:
- Undergraduates (sophomores and above)
- Graduate students (second year and beyond)
Most student employees work 3 to 6 hours per week. Typical responsibilities include:
- Greeting visitors
- Assisting with daily museum operations
- Working on priority museum projects
Examples of past projects include:
- Transcribing archival documentation
- Processing digital images
- Making archival storage boxes
- Cataloging artifacts in the museum database
Graduate students may also conduct in-depth research and cataloging of specific objects in the collection.
When positions are available, they are posted on SMILE, the University’s Experiential Learning platform.
Staff Employment
Because the Archaeological Museum has a small professional staff and is committed to providing valuable work experiences for Johns Hopkins students, professional job openings are rare.
When available, professional positions are posted on the Johns Hopkins University Careers page.
Internships and Volunteering
Because the Archaeological Museum has a small professional staff and limited capacity, we are generally not able to support internships or volunteer positions at this time.
Our focus is on providing hands-on work experiences for currently enrolled Johns Hopkins students through paid student employment.
