Researchers who wish to publish an image of the museum or an object from our collection are asked to complete the Image Request Form below.

Permission to publish an image may be granted depending on the intended use. The museum typically provides images for scholarly publications and research—not for commercial use.

Due to our small staff, we may not be able to accommodate urgent deadlines. Please submit your request as early as possible to allow sufficient processing time.

All images must be used in accordance with guidelines provided by the museum staff. If you plan to reuse an image in a future publication, please submit a new request. We kindly ask that you send the museum a physical or digital copy of any final publication that includes our images.

The Johns Hopkins Archaeological Museum holds copyright to many images depicting objects in our collection. However, it is understood that the Museum and The Johns Hopkins University do not claim reproduction rights to all the materials in its collections. Therefore, by virtue of this request, the organization or individual requesting use of materials in University collections agrees to assume all responsibility for such use (including the responsibility of determining applicable rights holders and requesting appropriate permissions from such rights holders) and hereby agrees to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless The Johns Hopkins University, its trustees, officers, employees, and agents from any and all liability, loss or damage they may suffer as a result of claims, demands, costs or judgments (including reasonable attorney fees and court costs) against them arising out of the organization’s use of the requested materials.
