Employment

I’m a Hopkins student. Can I work at the museum?

If you are a Hopkins student on the Homewood campus and have completed your first year of either undergraduate or graduate work, you can apply for open positions in the museum. Student staff positions are advertised on our Facebook page and are usually posted at the beginning or end of the semester. Typical responsibilities of student staff include greeting and monitoring visitors, day-to-day care of the museum space, data-entry related to the collection, basic cataloging of objects in the collection, and assisting with class visits.

I’m a museum professional, how can I apply for a position at the museum?

Due to the small staff-size at the professional level and the museum’s commitment to providing Hopkins students with valuable work experiences, the museum rarely has open positions for museum professionals. Any employment opportunities are posted on the University’s Career page.

I’m a high school student. Can I volunteer or complete a senior service project with the museum?

Due to the small size of our staff, we are currently not able to take on any additional students, even as volunteers.

Do you take adult or retiree volunteers?

Unfortunately, we are not able to take on any volunteers at the moment.
